Devon

Devon is a unique and naturally beautiful county in the south-west of England, with two National Parks, Dartmoor and Exmoor, rolling green hills, rugged cliffs and an abundance of rivers and woodlands. It is the only county in England with two separate coastlines, a total of 250 miles – over half of which has been designated as Heritage Coast.

There are two cities in Devon. The capital is Exeter but the larger city is Plymouth. Devon also has many market towns and pretty villages plus of course there are numerous beaches of every type, some with long sandy stretches, others with rocky coves and rockpools to climb and explore.

There is an abundance of outdoor adventures to be had in Devon – with golf courses, horse riding, kayaking, paddle boarding, abseiling, canoeing, fishing and cycle tracks. There are also many Amusement Parks such as The Big Sheep, Crealy Adventure Park, Woodlands and Diggerland. You can swing through the trees at Go Ape in Haldon Forest or go skiing at Plymouth Ski and Snowboard Centre.

There is also a wealth of museums, art galleries and theatres all over Devon, such as Dawlish Museum, Teignmouth’s own Teign Heritage Centre, The Devon Guild of Craftsmen in Bovey Tracey, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) in Exeter, Dartmoor Prison Museum, Babbacombe Model Village and the Torquay Museum.
